Effectively supporting international students and ensuring their success poses new and unique challenges to today’s educators. One-size doesn’t fit all, and communication with these students is often hindered by deep cultural and language barriers. New Mind 360° Total Care student services are structured to meet international students’ unique physical, academic, cultural, and psychological needs, hence improving our students’ chance for true success.
Foundational Services: These core services address students’ basic needs, including room and board, basic transportation, mobile phone, and banking support.
Academic Services: To best support students’ overall success, New Mind offers a set of academic services that are specifically tailored for international students. This includes weekly tutoring appointments, supplemental instruction, help labs, and additional programs to strengthen and enhance students’ language study. Additional support such as course selection and add/drop consulting is also provided to ensure students successfully graduate from college.
Extra-curricular: With the goal to help students fully integrated with the mainstream culture, New Mind offers volunteering opportunities, services projects, trips, company visits, sports events, and many activities. These carefully designed extra-curricular activities also help students maximize their experiential and practical learning, and build a strong portfolio for future success (or for future employment).
Advising: Every New Mind has a dedicated advisor. Before student’s departure from their home country, throughout the academic year, and extended beyond their graduation, our professional advisors not only offers structured sessions to help students’ academic, language and culture transition, but also customize development plans to fit students’ development needs.
Parent communication: A successful college experience requires strong support from family and parents, which requires more than just financials. With our multi-lingual staff, we keep parents in the loop, eliminate the misunderstanding of foreign environment, and help them to contribute positively to students’ journey.
